Everyone Has A Wild Side - RHM Studios Shoot

A few months ago my wonderful friend Amber of Style Plus Curves invited me to do a shoot with her at RHM Studios, here in Chicago.  We took the day and traveled South to the studio, where we met our photographer, Rashied.

The studio was in what appears to be a large warehouse that has been converted into office spaces.  The industrial interior of the space made for a great backdrop for the shoot.
We did several outfit changes, starting with a "naughty secretary" look.  We also changed for a "bad girl vs good girl" set and a high-fashion look.  Me and Amber had so much fun channeling our inner bad girl and playing with the props we were given!

Check out some of my favorite shots:

It was quiet possibly the most fun I have had on a shoot, with lots of direction and versatility!  RHM Studios is always looking for models to build their portfolio.  If you are interested in modeling check out their website,

Have a wonderful Holiday weekend everyone!

Chicago PinUp Photo Shoot

It's finally here! The post I have been talking up on my Facebook page and sharing sneak peek photos from!  My shoot with Chicago Pinup!
In August, me and my friend Amber of Style Plus Curves got the great opportunity to do a duel pin up shoot with Chicago Pinup at their studio in Warrenville, IL.  Upon arriving at the studio, we both went through hair and makeup, transforming us into dolled-up, pin up girls!  Yari, the Chicago Pinup "Glam Squad" makeup artist, gave me a wonderful, airbrushed foundation and vintage cat eyes.  My inventive hair style (it took some work to temporarily cover my shaved patch) with fitting victory rolls was the work of Katrina.
After all of the final touches, me and Amber headed into the studio with Karina, the owner and main photographer.  There were shoes galore and a great assortment of props everywhere! It was like walking into the drama room in high school...I wanted to try everything on!
Even though I have had some experience in front of a camera, I was quite nervous.  I had never done a pinup shoot before!  Surprisingly, it didn't take long for me to get into "character.  Karina's helpful tips and easy-going demeanor had me relaxed and laughing.  After all of the fun in the studio, I couldn't wait to see our photos....but I would have to wait.  With the recent expansion of their studio, it ended up taking longer than the originally quoted 4 weeks for me to get my photos.  Even so, Karina's communication was wonderful through the entire process!  I am very excited to see Chicago Pinup grow, especially with their recent decision to do pin up exclusively!

Enjoy my favorite photos from the shoot!

Doesn't this look like a blast?  Thank you Karina and the entire Chicago Pinup team!

Put A Bird On It!

Fall is without a doubt my favorite time of year!  The colder weather, festive pumpkin treats, of course the styles of the season...I love it all! Rather than turning over my whole closet, I like taking on the challenge of transitioning some of my summer pieces into fall favorites.

This is a look that I put together for work recently.  I love all of the blue and of course my wonderful bird shirt! My fashion friend, Amber of Style Plus Curves snapped these fun photos at a great little garden.  We obviously had a blast with the shoot!  Check out her blog soon for some photos taken by yours truly.

I hope you all are enjoying the wonderful fall weather!

Goodbye September

Happy Sunday everyone!
I hope you all are enjoying the last day of September.  It went by fast didn't it?  Personally, I am very excited for October!
Speaking of which, keep your eyes right here next month for a very special Halloween post!

Here is a look at one of my favorite outfits that I put together this month!  I was going for a more dramatic, Rockabilly look.  Notice the purple hair extension and the spiked lip stud.

This month I kept busy with visiting my family and some friends in Michigan,  attending events, and enjoying Wednesdays, my new day off!  Hooray!  As promised, I will be doing more posts now that I have my "me day" back.  I can't wait to share my adventures and new fashion finds with you all again!
I will also be working more with my great friend Amber of Style Plus Curves, to showcase more of our favorite outfits.

Here is my month in Instagram photos!
I hope you all enjoy my obvious obsession with this wonderful app. :)

This year was my 21st year attending the Wheatland Music Festival!  One of my favorite bluegrass and roots music events.
 Lighting paper lanterns at Wheatland!
I got to see my adorable nephew!

The new Mumford and Sons album is pretty much epic!

I spent some time at Green City farmer's market last week!  I love all of the fresh and local produce.

PLAY MDA City Apartments Fashion Show

Last week, I attended a fashion show on the rooftop of the MDA City Apartments.  The view was amazing, the company was great and it was all for a good cause!  The event doubled as a fundraiser for the Sankofa Theatre Company and a pre-pride party, in celebration of equality and gay rights.
As usual, the lovely Amber McCulloch of Style Plus Curves joined me.  We enjoyed sangria, tasty appetizers and a little bit of shopping while we eagerly awaited the start of the show.  My favorite purchase of the evening was a foxy pair of feather earrings, hand-made by Haut Statement.  I cannot wait to rock them with some black heels and a burgundy dress to match!
Eight, local designers showcased a selection of their pieces in the runway show. Gabrielle Zwick was a personal favorite of mine with her 1940’s-inspired pieces.
I was pleasantly surprised by the large selection of up-cycled, vintage designers as well.  Venus Meets Vintage, Rehbd Vintage, and LeThrift showcased rehabbed vintage pieces that captured a specific era, while still exuding a modern appeal.
The crowd of people that attended made it obvious that the event was quite a success!
I certainly enjoyed the evening and I look forward to the possibility of attending again next year.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Pride!
