On June 9th
I got to be a part of my
first, big event at Solo Salon. We
hosted a prohibition to Cancer Ball, aiming to raise money for cancer research,
specifically for Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. More than seven thousand dollars was raised
in ticket sales and door donations alone, but the final total will be announced
next week. Solo partnered with The Birds
of a Feather Movement, an organization started by Frankie Olvera before he
passed from Monophasic Synovial Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. The BOF movement focuses on serving the
children and families that are dealing with cancer in their community and
Rather than focusing on the sadness of the lives lost to cancer, Solo Salon wanted to celebrate
the lives of those who have survived and the lives of those passed. The evening was filled with laughter, dancing and remembrance.
Thank you to Melissa of Event
Life Productions for all of your hard work in preparing for this event,
Kristine Singer, owner of Solo Salon for taking her drive and passion for
philanthropy and delivering a fantastic event, and of course Efren Olvera and
Roberto Olvera for working with us and continuing to be advocates for the
prohibition of cancer.
Please enjoy these photos that
I took at the event!
